NEW YEAR, NEW TATTOOS!!!

I hope everyone had a great holiday season and rang in the new year with a bang! As we head into 2023 I’m making some big changes to my work flow and operations from how I book, to what I book, my new rates, what I will begin to offer and some major shop upgrades. Read on for more clarity.

The biggest change I’ve made is that I’ve automated and streamlined my booking system. Clients will now be able to book themselves in through a link that I will send upon accepting their request. That work flow looks something like this: Send a request, upon approval an acceptance email will be sent with all the info needed to move forward including the link to book an appointment, pre care info, a release form link, my policies and other pertinent info. This new system allows clients to reschedule on there own, receive reminders via text and email as well as recieve follow up emails. I really look forward to cutting down on the back and forth and saving us all time so we can focus on the important things in life, like tattooing!

With this new system I’ve also switched over from an hourly rate to half day and full day rates. The benefit of this is knowing exactly how much you are going to be paying for your session so that you can save up and prepare accordingly without the guesswork. This also ensures full compensation on my end for the work put in, not just the tattoo time, all without having to track the clock. Over the years of tattooing and developing my unique process and style I’ve become very proficient with my work and can generally get a lot done in a short amount of time and my current rates reflect this along with the value I offer. I also prefer larger more intensive projects that better suit my abilities such as multiple hour or multi-session projects, single themed cohesive full sleeves, full back and torso pieces, thigh pieces, chest pieces, etc., There is no shortage of less experienced tattooers in the area to take on the smaller less advanced tattoos so my booking preferences are now geared towards such projects. I will also be catering appointments more to the individual client by offering preferred snacks and refreshments as well as music tastes and of course, a great time. I intend to create value beyond just the cost of a tattoo in favor of an experience that, like a tattoo, will last a lifetime.

Another change I’m excited about is the shift in focus of my body of work. No longer will I be tattooing every request that comes in as this cheats myself out of working in styles that align with my strengths and preferences, cheats other artists out of work they may be a better fit for and more importantly cheats the client out of getting work done by an artist who is genuinely excited about their project and is the most proficiently skilled for that particular style. It’s a win for everyone.

I’m focusing on what I have labeled Dynamic Fine Art Realism, it’s somewhat painterly, somewhat illustrative, refined focal points with abstractions and soft or loose edges, much like the way I oil paint. Black and grey preferred but I still have interest in color, especially subdued limited palettes and monochromatic concepts. I will largely be taking on themes steeped in organic and earthly elements and concepts that are loosely conceived with limited subject matter. I have plenty of pre drawn flash designs available in my online store which represent the style I’m focusing on and any requests for these flash designs will receive priority booking. Custom requests will still be taken so long as they align with my body of work. I’m always happy to guide you towards choices for your idea that will allow me to tattoo to the best of my abilities and if I’m not the right fit for your project I will recommend another artist at my studio or in the area.

Lastly, the studio recently went through some major aesthetic upgrades. We’ve changed the entire vibe of the studio with new paint, a fancy new look in the lobby and a more suitable feng shui to match the Victorian Goth aesthetic we strive to create. We’ve also added an entry code lock on the front door to avoid people walking in randomly so that we can maintain a quiet and calm environment for the clients we are currently serving without distractions from the outside world. Your artist will provide you with the code before your appointment and we kindly ask that you keep the code to yourself and please do not stop by without an appointment.
